New Service: Skip-A-Pay
Hickam FCU is proud to have launched the Skip-A-Pay program to provide members relief when they need it. Whether preparing for a special celebration, tackling an unplanned expense, or just needing extra breathing room (especially during tax season), Skip-A-Pay is here to help eligible members skip a loan payment of their choice! This program is available for all Hickam FCU personal, auto, motorcycle, and savings-secured loans.
Skips can be requested once per rolling 12-month period per loan. Requests for Skip-A-Pay can be made conveniently online, in-branch, or by mail and must be submitted at least 10 days before the desired payment’s due date. A processing fee applies for each request.
Please note that interest will continue to accrue on your loan during the skipped period, resulting in increased total finance charges over the life of the loan, and may extend your repayment period beyond your credit life/disability insurance and GAP coverage. Your regular loan payments will resume the month following the skipped month.
Children's Miracle Network Fundraiser
Please help us raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network in Hawai‘i. Between May 1st and May 31st, Hickam FCU will collect donations online and in branch. Every dollar raised stays here in Hawai‘i to benefit local keiki and families in need.
If you haven’t heard Leila-Rose Coloma’s story yet, you better go grab a box of tissues! Leila-Rose is the 2024 Kapi‘olani Children’s Miracle Network Champion. Her story began at birth when she was delivered by emergency c-section. Leila was diagnosed with two heart conditions that made it difficult for blood and oxygen to circulate in her body. At just five months old, she underwent open-heart surgery on the mainland. Trouble didn’t stop there as she had to undergo a second open-heart surgery at three years of age. However, Kapi‘olani Medical Center was equipped to perform the procedure this time and spared the Coloma ‘Ohana from the added stress of traveling to the mainland. Now, Leila is a bubbly seven-year-old ready to inspire people as this year’s Champion.
Learn more about her story and how you can help keiki like her. Beginning May 1st, you can donate via our online fundraising page or at any Hickam FCU branch. We can make it better, together!

2023 Employee of the Year
During our 87th Annual Meeting, we awarded our 2023 Employee of the Year to Sonia Cooper, Operations Officer. Sonia is an exceptional individual who was previously honored as the Employee of the Month in May 2023. She has been a valuable part of the Hickam Federal Credit Union team for nearly 25 years and consistently demonstrates respect, positivity, and compassion. Her extensive knowledge and willingness to go above and beyond to support both the members and staff is truly remarkable. Over the years, Sonia has been a shining example of Caring, Integrity, and Commitment and can always be counted on to assist and lend a helping hand. |

Making the Community Better, Together
Friendship Christian Schools Career Day
Mahalo to Friendship Christian Schools for inviting us to their Career Day. Students stopped by our table to learn about what working at Hickam FCU is like. We hope they are inspired to pursue outstanding careers. |
Providing Keiki & Kupuna IDs
Our Hickam FCU staff and family volunteers returned to the community to provide our Keiki & Kupuna ID service. The Celebrate Safe Communities event organized by the Attorney’s Office was held at Pearlridge Center on Saturday, March 9th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sixteen staff and family volunteers helped with intake, capturing photos and fingerprints, and producing the ID cards. In total, we created 151 Keiki IDs and 8 Kupuna IDs for our community.
While Keiki and Kupuna IDs cannot be used in any official capacity, they are a crucial resource in emergencies. The IDs can help families locate or identify missing children and elders. The individual’s information, photo, and fingerprints are displayed on the card.
A Member Story That Made Us 😊
After shopping around to find an institution that could accommodate me with utilizing a HELOC, I found out that Hickam FCU was my best chance to obtain one due to my current financial situation. I had the awesome privilege at Pearl City Branch to meet and work with their outstanding Loan Officer, Julien. Along with his great demeanor, he was extremely professional and knowledgeable about their HELOC product and patiently took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns so that I clearly understood the entire process and what was required from me to complete the application process... I am very thankful for your back office help especially the underwriters for making this HELOC happen for me. This product will greatly change my life and financial situation for the better. My hats off to the wonderful, professional, friendly and outstanding staff at Hickam FCU (Pearl City Branch) for helping me and making my experience one to remember for a long time to come. I will definitely refer others to become members in the very near future. Mahalo!
John, member since 2023.
